The history of snow fountains dates back to more than 150 years. In 1850, American John Goree has produced the first ice and snow machine. The machine works by the compression cycle principle. Before this, ice was obtained from fresh water lakes and sold. This was quite profitable. The cost of getting ice out of these lakes was quite low. In the 20th century, the production of natural ice was limited and this encouraged the investors to improve new ice making technologies and make mass production of ice machines.
